Well-Earned Assistance

There were occasions where Lex spent a lot of her days doing nothing, and waiting for the day she can get out of this place.
This room wasn't really the worst, but no room with good furniture can ever beat the familiar noise of home. The Pens wasn't exactly the most comforting of places, for obvious reasons.
There wasn't anything new on the TV. Reruns of various soap operas from Showtime milked themselves dry. And for days now, she's been unable to access the internet. Something about an outage. She didn't really listen.
Recovery aligns with frustrating slow hours. Lex stares at the TV, almost mindlessly so.

Lex freezes. She's not sure how to answer that. Truthfully, the fact that she survived getting her stomach cut open at all was...nothing short of a miracle.
It would be easier to just say yes. Instead, she leans her head on the infected TV.

Her hands rest on the TV. A sigh escapes her lips. The thought of Sam crosses her mind again—How full of guilt she must be. Pain forms in her chest.
There was so much she wanted to say. But even those feelings cannot be captured with words alone. What was Sam up to? Have they repaired her? Is she upset? When can I see her?
So many questions, yet none of them come out. There wasn't a lot of time, she could guess.

The screen crackles, and she nuzzles the side of the TV to find even the slightest bit of comfort. A form of affection that overflows.
