Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Good morning. Made you coffee.
Laurel places a cup of coffee on the kitchen table. It's not too sweet, but not black and bitter. When Guy tries to pick it up, they almost drop it, forgetting that Laurel often makes it steaming hot.
Forgetting that you have to wait first.

Guy
Rabbit
Ah!
A bit of the coffee spills, and Laurel is quick to grab a tissue.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Careful now.

Guy
Rabbit
...Sorry.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Mm. It's fine.
He's as patient as ever. They ran out of tea recently, so coffee will have to do for now. Something to keep his lover awake. Better than sleeping in.
Not that he minds if they decide to.
The canine takes the newspaper from the counter. Someone always seems to slide the latest news under their door, and Guy isn't really sure as to who that could be. The other doesn't mind too much, because whoever it was delivered in time.
Guy taps their fingers on the table, waiting for Laurel to tell them the happenings. They only keep up because of him.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Another person missing. How strange.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Looks like another client is on the table.

Guy
Rabbit
That's...sad.
"Because that means you'll be gone for a bit again." They don't say, but Laurel can easily guess.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Even finding clues will lead to pay. It won't take long if I just focus.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
I'm already close to finding the last one, you see. So I'm sure something will come out of it.

Guy
Rabbit
I guess that's good for us.

Guy
Rabbit
Ah, I should head to work soon...
Having waited long enough, they down the coffee quickly. Still hot, but not burning anymore. Laurel folds the newspaper.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Are you late?

Guy
Rabbit
If I run fast, I might make it.

Guy
Rabbit
...Sorry for sleeping in.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
As long as you don't get fired, you'll live.
He hugs them, and Guy quickly reciprocates. They don't really want to go either.
Maybe subconsciously, they knew it meant having to leave him behind.
And that when they come home from work, he won't be there just yet.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Bring a bottle of water with you.

Guy
Rabbit
I will.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
And pack a second handkerchief. You'll need it.

Guy
Rabbit
...That too.

Guy
Rabbit
Will you be home when I'm back?

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Maybe tomorrow.
That was disappointing to hear.

Guy
Rabbit
I look forward to it, then...

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
I do too.

Laurel
Pedigree Canine
Goodbye. Be careful.

Guy
Rabbit
Should be telling you that.
So they leave, and wave at him goodbye. The little parts of their day piece together slowly, but surely.
For both ends, it was going to be a long week. But they're never, ever tired of each other.
